In 2019, Helen Wilson Roe's portrait paintings featured in a Stand Up to Racism group exhibition at Studio 18, Stroud. Showing alongside other artists responding to the same theme placed her portraits — many of them studies of people whose stories had gone unrecognised — within a wider, shared conversation about representation and whose history gets told.
